PXA Plate exchanger aluminium
Plate heat exchanger air handlers are arranged either side-by-side or stacked on top of one another. The warm air being extracted passes close to the cool air being drawn in, with thin plates keeping them from mixing. This ensures that heat is exchanged via the conduction of the plates but without any risk of dirt, odours, moisture, or bacteria being transmitted between the two flows. This process keeps the air circulating and enables energy recovery without risking the wellbeing or health of your site.

Heat recovery
efficiency
The correct efficiency for an aluminium plate heat exchanger will depend on written guidelines, as well as your site’s economic situation. Efficiency can be dictated by regulations like Eco Design Commission Regulation (EU) No 1253/2014, and practical concerns like energy prices, running temperature, maintenance costs, and interest rates. According to (EU) No 1253/2014, profitability, and environmental protection, the heat recovery efficiency should be no less than 73%. However, under the right conditions the efficiency can reach 80%.
Ancillary items
Your plate heat exchanger AHU can be fitted with additional devices to boost its effectiveness as part of your site’s air management system.
Filtration
Air filtration is always present to provide clean air to the building. It removes dust and other contaminants from the air to provide a pleasant and healthy environment for the occupants.
Direct heating
Direct heat exchangers are placed directly in the air stream to regulate the temperature. These can either be gas-fired heaters or electric heater batteries.
Indirect heating and cooling
Indirect heating and cooling coils use hot water or steam for heating and chilled water for cooling with the medium supplied by a central plant.
Humidification
Evaporative, vaporiser, spray mist, and wetted medium can be used as part of your air handling system to keep continuous heating from drying out the air.
Dehumidification
Dehumidifiers uses a series of cooling and heating coils to draw moisture out of the air at your site which can help prevent issues like damp and mould.
Intelligent energy controls
Your own building management system can monitor your building’s air, but for an unparalleled level of fine control, you need our intelligent energy controls. You can keep track of return air quality, available energy for recovery, or CO2 concentration for optimum efficiency while still maintaining your fresh air requirements.
Net zero carbon
Net zero carbon is the initiative to balance the amount of carbon emitted into the atmosphere by removing the same amount. You can help your site work towards net zero with a plate exchanger AHU that delivers conditioned air, recovers energy to boost efficiency, and can be easily monitored and controlled to suit your needs.
Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)
We will complete a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) on your AHU. This is a series of checks completed either at our factory or at your site as a Site Acceptance Test to verify that your unit is correctly assembled, contains the proper components, is safe to operate, and will work as intended. You can access the results of these checks and other documentation through our client portal:
- Completed FAT protocol
- Installation, Operation, and Maintenance (IOM) manual
- Recommended spare parts lists
- Certificates of compliance
- As-built certified drawings
- Air tightness certificate
- Filter DOP certificate
