SSAU Supply secondary
air unit

When only supply air is required for the ventilation system, openings in the building’s envelope are used for extraction. The area is positively pressurised, and a percentage of secondary air is recirculated through this unit and back into the area served. This unit is equipped with two dampers for fresh air intake and secondary air for recirculation. These can be adjusted to control the mix of fresh and secondary air depending on the needs of your site. These units are key to conserving energy in industrial sites, healthcare and pharmaceutical facilities, warehouses, and distribution and data centres. They lower the energy consumption of these sites, reduce need for investment in heat generation and distribution systems and mitigate the overall harm to the environment.

Unidirectional ventilation

Unidirectional ventilation units (UVUs) are ventilation units that produce an air flow in one direction only. This is either from inside to outside as exhaust, or outside to inside as supply. The mechanically produced flow is balanced by natural air supply or exhaust. These units are energy saving essentials for health and pharmaceutical facilities, warehouses, industrial locations, distribution sites, and data centres.

Ancillary items

Additional devices add extra functionality to your air handling unit and ensure that it can always serve the specific and changing needs of your site.

Air filtration

This function is always present to provide clean, dust-free air to the building. Our filters remove fine particulate and bacteria to improve health and wellbeing at your site.

Direct heating

Placed directly in the air stream, direct heat exchangers provide an immediate exposure to heat to quickly alter the temperature of the air.

Indirect heating and cooling

Fed by central plant, indirect heating uses hot water or steam heated coils to provide warm air in winter and chilled water or refrigerant gas DX to provide cool air in summer.

Intelligent energy controls

At ECE UK we offer intelligent energy controls with all of our air handling units. They monitor return air quality, energy available for recovery, and CO¬2 concentration to help you reach optimum energy efficiency at your site. You’ll have sophisticated control over the particulars of your air handling system while still always meeting your fresh air requirements. Additionally, during certain conditions ambient temperatures will be suitable for free cooling. When fresh air is not required, such as when the site is not occupied, the dampers can be set automatically to full re-circulation to further save energy.

Net zero carbon

The initiative to offset carbon emissions will require buildings in all sectors to become more energy efficient. With a custom AHU you can meet the ventilation, temperature control, and wellbeing needs of your site using the optimal amount of energy. Our AHUs are tailored to your site’s requirements and can be easily monitored and adjusted as needed.

Factory acceptance test

After the manufacturing process is complete, our engineers can conduct a variety of checks collectively called a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT). This will establish that your new AHU has been built according to the specification and will work exactly as intended. All the results from these checks and other relevant documentation will be accessible to you through our secure client portal:

  • Completed FAT protocol
  • Installation, Operation, and Maintenance (IOM) manual
  • Recommended spare parts lists
  • Certificates of compliance
  • As-built certified drawings
  • Air tightness certificate
  • Filter DOP certificate
